About Val Paminiano
Val Paminiano was born in Burauen Leyte. He was raised in a Roman Catholic family he finished his high school in a Roman Catholic School. It was in second year High School when he got born-again in a holiness Pentecostal church. He was baptized in the Holy Spirit with the initial evidence of speaking in tongues just a couple of days before he was baptized in water in 1992.
He was serving the Lord while studying til he finished college. He graduated with a Bachelor of Science in Hotel and Restaurant Management at Leyte Normal University in Tacloban City, Leyte. He'd been teaching in private colleges in Leyte and in Manila right after college. When he discovered that he is gifted with a skill of teaching, it became his passion. As a teacher, he also became an effective teacher of the Word.
Val became a member of the following churches: United Pentecostal Church (Oneness Holiness church), El Shaddai (Catholic Chrismatic Movement), Burauen Community Church (Former Manna Christian Fellowship), JIL Tacloban, Christ is King, Cathedral of Praise, Day-by-Day, Victory Christian Fellowship, New Life the Fort and Metropolitan Community Church.
He transferred from one church to another due to the distance from where he lived to the location of those churches mentioned above. While always being active in all of those churches, he always had the struggle of hiding his real sexuality which is being a homosexual. He tried his best to be changed and praying so hard so that he could be changed from being a homosexual to a straight person out of the belief that he used to be taught of that homosexuals are hated by God and that they are going to hell. In the long run, instead of pleasing God, he's been pleasing people all around him in the church by acting to be a straight person just to be accepted be allowed to serve in the church. By doing so, he was allowed to be part of the children's ministry, worship team, discipleship group, dance team etc., except for one...preaching or doing a pulpit ministry. No church would allow him to preach because his homosexuality is so obvious. He got tired and even started to question God about the real situation and how he can fulfill his destiny. He knew in his heart that he is called by God. But no one is allowing him to preach and teach the Word in the pulpit.
In 2010, he attended Metropolitan Community Church in Makati City where LGBT (Lesbian, Gay, Bisexual and Transgender) people are accepted and affirmed. He already knew for many years that there is such a church in the Philippines but he did not try til 2010 came because of his hope that his homosexuality can still be cured. Another reason why he did not go to MCC in the previous years is because he used to believe of the teachings of the mainstream evangelical churches that homosexuality is condemned by God.
As he thoroughly studied the Word about the issue of homosexuality, Val found out and realized that there are wrong interpretations of the scriptures concerning homosexuality. It was at MCC that his gifts in pulpit ministry was enhanced. He served God at MCC for almost 2 years and left the church in 2012 in obedience to his higher calling which is to Pastor the first evangelica/pentecostal LGBT affirming church in the Philippines.
As a believer and a follower of Jesus Christ, Val has a big heart for all people. He wants each person whom he meets to be saved by accepting Christ as their personal Lord and savior as much as possible. And as a gay pastor, he is also passionate of bringing gays and lesbians to the kingdom of God and introduce them to Christ and be a member of God's family.
